After putting all its scheduled service on hold as a measure against the spread of COVID-19, Harbour Air announced April 8 that is was resuming flights between Sechelt and Nanaimo and Vancouver and Nanaimo as an essential service.

In a release announcing its decision Harbour Air said, “With the announcement from other essential travel services that they are temporarily cancelling certain routes, we have received a flood of requests to assist. In particular, between Nanaimo and the Sunshine Coast as well as Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver.”

BC Ferries has cut sailings on several routes and completely suspended service between Horseshoe Bay and Nanaimo, and Harbour Air said the resumption of service on its Sechelt-Nanaimo and Nanaimo-Vancouver routes will mean “guests needing to travel between these coastal communities can do so without having to travel through Tsawwassen.”

The service will resume April 13 with one daily round trip Monday to Friday between Sechelt and Nanaimo that will link up with flights between Nanaimo and Vancouver.
