Senior dancers from the Coast Academy of Dance recently participated in the second annual production of Collaboration.

Collaboration is a coming together of dance schools across the Lower Mainland, working towards a performance at the Kay Meek Theatre in West Vancouver.

Along with Coast Academy, five other dance academies – North Shore Academy of Dancing, Ballet Bloch, Port Moody School of Dance, Seymour Dance and Driftwood Academy – nominated students to audition for the production.

The Coast Academy dancers participated in weekly rehearsals in North Vancouver to learn pieces that were created specifically for the production, featuring dancers from each school.

The students were also joined on stage by various pre-professional and professional companies such as KTL Co., Source Dance Company, Shiamak International and Coastal City Ballet.

“This experience was a great way for the Coast Academy Dancers to meet new students, work with new choreographers, and to be inspired by the Lower Mainland dance community,” Coast Academy said in a release.

The Coast Academy’s Company Program also had the opportunity to perform a lyrical number created by So You Think You Can Dance Canada finalist Nathalie Heath.
