The Elphinstone Secondary senior girls volleyball team won’t be proceeding to provincials this year after losing at the zone playoffs.

“Elphinstone Secondary did make it onto the second day of zone playoffs but fell a little short in the first match, which forced us out of provincial contention,” coach John Brisebois told Coast Reporter.

In early November, the team placed second at the North Shore league championships and the AA Cougars had performed well against AAAA teams during the season.

Chatelech Secondary School’s senior girls volleyball team also failed to qualify for provincials, with “tough, hard-fought losses” to three teams from Vancouver and North Vancouver at the zone playoffs, said coach Darren Causon.

Despite the losses, Causon said the team played “a great season.”

Provincials take place Nov. 27 to 30 in Vernon. Club play for volleyball on the Sunshine Coast begins in December.
