The Summer Music Series, the Saturday concerts by mostly local musicians usually set on the lawn outside the Sechelt Library, would have been too difficult to manage safely this year. So, organizers recorded multi-camera videos of all the performances in advance and are releasing them one by one every Saturday, all season long. Past performances are still there to view and hear. Among the 17 acts are the Colorifics, Definitely Diva, Foolish Man, Kaishan, and the Jeevious Family. This Saturday, it’s the folk-and-blues of The Locals, featuring Robin Atchison on vocals and guitar and Nelson Giles on vocals and harmonica. Brothers in Farms kick off their Local Love All Coast Album Tour Friday night, Aug. 14, showcasing their new album, Possibilities. They’ll be at the Roberts Creek Legion outdoor stage, 5 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m., the band plays Rockwood Pavilion. Advance tickets are recommended as numbers are limited. The Clubhouse Restaurant at the Pender Harbour Golf Course has added a Friday night music slot to its Sunday afternoon series on the deck. On Aug. 14, songstress Charlotte Wrinch entertains with sets between 5 and 8 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. you can catch the Billy Hillpicker Band. $5.
The ukulele (and a few other instruments) combo Pulling Strings is at the Gibsons Public Market Atrium from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The duo of saxophonist and flautist Karen Graves and guitarist Budge Schachte have performed together for more than 25 years. Hear some selections from their vast folk, jazz, pop and world music repertoire at the Secret Garden B&B Garden Stage on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 16, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Host and singer Deanna Knight plays an opening mini-set. Only 30 tickets will be sold on a sliding scale of $20 to $30, for small pods to individuals. All in advance, no drop-ins for safety’s sake. Call 604-362-1280.
Slow Sundays at the gazebo in Roberts Creek has a busy lineup for its 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. performances on Aug. 16: Michael Maser, followed by Clay Hepburn, then Kaishan, and Tube Radio wraps it up starting at 2:30 p.m.

The forecast looks favourable for the Creek Clayworks outdoor four-day pottery sale this week.

An intriguing set of new exhibits opened at Gibsons Public Art Gallery this week, featuring the work of three distinct female artists: Jayme Chalmers: Sculptures from Books (mixed media); Coral Arrand: Fascinating Women (oils); and Kasia Krolikowska: Life as Illusion (digital art.) The exhibits run until Sept. 7. The gallery is open every day through August, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
