Drama classes, new play for kids and youth

Driftwood Theatre School is gearing up for a new season, and a new play.

The (Almost) True Story of Hansel and Gretel played to sold-out audiences and rave reviews last spring. Now, Driftwood Theatre School (DTS) is launching a new season with drama classes for youth aged five to 19 years, along with plans for another lively fairy-tale mash-up in spring 2019.

DTS director Ingrid Bilton can’t wait to get started. “We have two blockbuster plays under consideration for our annual spring production: a charming rendering of the classic Puss ‘n’ Boots and a side splitting comedy with the unlikely title, Mother Goose is Eaten by Werewolves. Students will have the fun of selecting their favourite play!”

Bilton is thrilled by the addition of two new instructors, Troy Demmitt and Shannon Rody, who bring an exciting breadth of experience, energy and enthusiasm. Classes include FUNdamentals of Drama for five to seven years, MORE FUNdamentals for eight to 10 years, Improv: Theatre in the Moment for 10 to 14, and Teen Drama for 13 to 19 years.

Register Saturday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Bart’s Church in Gibsons or email contactregistrar.driftwoodts@gmail.com. See more at www.driftwoodplayers.ca/dts.htm
