Late last year, Royal LePage Sussex realtor Alan Stewart participated in a 100-kilometre trek across the Sahara Desert to raise awareness about domestic violence issues while also raising financial support for local women’s and children’s shelters through the company’s charity, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. Stewart personally raised more than $12,000 and presented a cheque for $10,000 to Sunshine Coast Community Services Society chair Sue Anne Linde at a recent audio-visual show he put on at the Seaside Centre. Nationally, Stewart and his fellow trekkers raised more than $1,125,000. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping the more than 50,000 women and children who are served each year by shelters and support programs.
