Pender Harbour is all about all genres of music this weekend.
Saturday, Sept. 21 the fabulous Paul James will perform best of the 80’s and 90’s rock and roll and country at the Legion’s dance and barbecue starting at 6:30 p.m. for $20. Dance only $10 at the door.
Sunday, Sept. 22 the PH Music Society presents Mimosa at the School of Music at 2 p.m. This quintet brings all to their performance, jazz, Brazilian samba, 60’s French pop, cabaret songs and original compositions. Tickets at www.penderharbourmusic.ca and Harbour Insurance.
The first of Sunday Jams is an All-Star one at the Pender Harbour Golf Clubhouse Restaurant with eight of the Coast’s most talented musicians: Peter Van Deursen, Joe Stanton, Simon Paradis, Jim Foster, Steve Hinton, Trevor Sully Antonyk, Tim Rannard, and Al Arford taking the stage from 2 to 6 pm. Thanks to Marilyn MacLeod, PH Blues Society and the PHGC for bringing back this much-loved event.
Women’s Connection Welcome Back gathering Tuesday, Sept. 24 invites you to improve your brain health and have fun doing it, 10 a.m. at the School of Music. Drop in is $2.
You Are Not Alone, a for-women-by-women group, welcomes guest speaker Adele Anderson at their Sept. 25 get together. She will speak about “Choice exists even in life’s most dire circumstances.” Come for soup and a bun at 6 p.m. before the presentation and more conversation at 7 p.m. at 13625 Sunshine Coast Hwy. The floors in the PH Community Hall are in the process of being refinished, so a couple of activities will be held at different locations. Harbourside Friendship Thursday Sept. 26 will be held at the Lions Park Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy Armchair Travel with Ted and Heather: Kayaking with Beluga Whales. Lunch is served at noon. Drop in $10. Chair Yoga, Friday, Sept. 27 will be held at the School of Music.
Art and Science of Orcas, Saturday, Sept. 29 at Iris Griffith Centre will have a fine exhibit of orca art by Shelley Stunnell’s art students followed by a compelling lecture: Drowned Out: Orca communication in an increasingly noisy world, by guest speaker Jessica Scott of the BC Cetacean Sightings Network. HUGS will provide their wonderful ukulele songs. Tea and cake. Everyone welcome, by donation, 1 to 3 p.m.
