Friends are organizing a fundraiser for a local volunteer and former candidate for Sechelt council to help with costs of recent medical procedures.

As a result of injuries and complications from an infection, Lennea Perpet had to have two legs amputated.

The financial burden has been significant, according to the organizers of the upcoming fundraiser, including the cost of special equipment, an electric wheelchair, and a new vehicle.

The goal of the beer and burger event Sept. 24 at the Lighthouse Pub is to raise money to help the Perpets complete the accessibility renovation of their home.

The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. and include entertainment from Jim Taylor, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.

For tickets or information call Linda at 778-458-2017 or Cathy at 604-741-3710.

As well as being active with the Lions Club, Lennea and Cyril Perpet helped found the Challenger Baseball Program – an inclusive sport for children of all abilities – and work with a variety of other groups and causes.
