Rotary calendars support local community

The four Rotary Clubs on the Sunshine Coast sell annual calendars while many businesses give calendars away as promotional material. Ever wonder why?

Since 1993 the clubs have produced full-colour calendars using stunning images provided free by local photographers. Through a B.C. gaming licence, these calendars are considered a major fundraiser for the clubs. There are prizes every day of the year ranging from $3,000 on Jan. 1, $250 on every “special day” and a minimum of $20 every day of the year. Your chances of winning are one in seven. The results of the draw are printed weekly in Coast Reporter.

Under the gaming licence, the net proceeds, which amount to about $25,000, must be spent in the local community. All four clubs provide bursaries for high school students to continue their post-secondary education.

Other community projects have included the homeless shelter, SPCA, Gibsons Heritage House, Elves Club, Salvation Army, Arrowhead Club and the Sechelt Hospital, and others.

Our community runs on volunteer power, so please help Rotary help others and buy a 2020 cash calendar for $20. They make great Christmas gifts. You might even win a cash prize.
