I want to thank the Town of Gibsons for providing time and space for the Sunshine Coast Homelessness Advisory Committee to present at the Sept. 3 council meeting. Our presentation included the context of homelessness on the Sunshine Coast and the advocacy work that has gone into bringing shelters, outreach services and now supported housing to our community’s most vulnerable. I applaud council for voting in favour of moving forward on the School Road supported housing project and advancing it to a public hearing on Oct. 8. I encourage people to come and get more information on this exciting project, have their voices heard and speak up for safe, affordable homes.
