Air pistol shooter Allan Harding of Gibsons helped Team Canada reach ninth place at InterShoot 2020, an annual international air pistol and rifle shooting competition in The Hague, Netherlands. The tournament started Feb. 6 and lasted three days. In the team event, Harding competed with Stuart Burns and Robert Katz to finish ninth out of 10 teams.
“Being 9th out of 10 was a bit of a disappointment for Team Canada,” Harding said. “Each of us on our team had one good day and team aggregate scoring was only done from day two so we placed lower on the leaderboard that day. We still did well when we look at the scores but we know we also could have done a lot better.”
On day one of individual competition, Harding placed 15th and was a few points shy of making finals, which would have been his first at an international competition. On day two he fell to 27th out of 50 competitors and did not qualify for finals.
In March Harding will be competing at the BC Airgun Championships.
While not training and working, Harding also organizes the Sunshine Coast Rod and Gun Club youth target program, which runs Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m.
