You are invited to join the SCRD this Saturday, Sept. 21 for the annual Backroad Trash Bash community clean-up. Meet at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt at 11 a.m. This year’s clean-up will target illegal dump sites from Halfmoon Bay to Roberts Creek. The SCRD is looking for volunteers with vehicles capable of hauling garbage (pick-up trucks) as well as volunteers to help clean the illegal dump sites. Pickleball starts for the fall season on Sept. 23 and runs until Dec. 4. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym, Northwood Road. Sponsored by Halfmoon Bay Community Association. Halfmoon Bay Elem-entary School and the Sechelt Library are jointly holding a Lobster Fest fundraiser to provide a playground structure that offers children with diverse abilities the opportunity to play alongside one another. Tickets ($100 each) are available at the school office. The Lobster Fest will be held at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort on Saturday, Sept. 28; doors open at 4 p.m., dinner is at 5 p.m. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 draw and a silent auction.
