The Sunshine Coast Volleyball Club (SCVC) U15 Girls season is in full swing.

They had their opening Playday tournament Feb. 9 at Simon Fraser University and are gearing up for more tournaments around the Lower Mainland.

This year they have committed to the U15 Club Nationals Tournament hosted in Edmonton in May.

In addition to a twice-a-week training program and full tournament schedule, they’re also out in the community fundraising.

Some of the fundraisers are selling Purdy’s Chocolates and collecting pledges for the Storm the Soames Stairs fundraiser, which will involve running a loop up the stairs on the south side of the park along Marine Drive and descending the stairs on the Shirley Macey Park side. It’s a 350-stair climb, and the athletes are aiming for three loops – that’s a lot of stairs!

Other initiatives include selling Burger and Beer tickets for a dinner at The 101 Brewhouse + Distillery, and collecting donations for raffle prizes.

This team is a committed and inspired group of local athletes working hard on and off the court. They appreciate all of your support.
