Two- and four-legged friends are invited to join the BC SPCA for its annual Paws for a Cause event, at Hackett Park in Sechelt on Sunday, Sept. 8. Walk registration opens at noon and the walk starts at 2:30 p.m.

“Walk for animals in need and enjoy an afternoon of fun,” said Tess Repenning, BC SPCA manager, peer-to-peer and community fundraising.

“Watch amazing dog sport demonstrations, enjoy a delicious selection of food, visit the vendors, take part in a dog and guardian look-alike contest, and join the fight against animal cruelty. Participate in the silent auction and be sure to listen for the prize draw announcements during the event.

“Paws for a Cause is an amazing opportunity to support animals in need right across the province. It also allows locals to get to know the animal lovers in the community,” Repenning said.

It’s not too late to sign up, and the process is simple. Go to walk.spca.bc.ca/sunshine where you can sign up to fundraise as an individual, a team of family and friends, or a corporate group.

The site also outlines how your participation and fundraising dollars can help protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.

The BC SPCA wishes to thank this event’s local sponsors for their support of this walk: Sechelt Animal Hospital, Eagle Ridge Veterinary Hospital, and The Landing Veterinary Clinic. We’d also like to thank our generous provincial Paws sponsors: Hill’s® Science Diet®, CTV, Petsecure, and PwC.
