Air cadets celebrate the power of flight

Join the Royal Canadian Air Cadets’ 858 Skookumchuk Squadron and other aviation enthusiasts on Saturday, Sept. 21 to celebrate the power of flight.

The fourth annual All About Flight event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sechelt Regional Airport at the top of Field Road in Wilson Creek.

The event features an afternoon of aviation activities:

• An on-ground air display where visitors can talk to attending pilots about their planes and flying experiences.

• Stations where the cadets will display their skills and technical knowledge.

• Representatives from BCIT’s aviation technology programs.

• Opportunities to win prizes (including flights, gift certificates from local businesses and more).

• A special 2 p.m. draw for youth aged 10 to 15 to win a scenic helicopter flight with Airspan (to be embarked upon immediately following the draw, weather permitting).

There will also be free hot dogs and coffee.

If you have an aviation enthusiast in your household, or you’re interested in what 858 Skook-umchuk Squadron offers youth aged 12 to 18 on the Sunshine Coast, come out and look around. Everyone is welcome.
