Spooky days in Roberts Creek!

I will let you in on one of the secrets of Roberts Creek:  trick or treating at Mossy Rock! Bring your candy to Roberts Creek Elementary and it will be distributed to the creative and generous residents of the area for our young ghouls to treat upon.

At the Community Hall Oct. 31 is EEK in the CREEK! Come get spooked in the haunted hallway. All ages welcome. There will be a game area, dance floor, contests and face painting, 3 to 8:30 p.m. Not too spooky for littles, but a little spooky.

A little bird told me that our hall has secured the funding for a new roof. Way to go, RCCA!

Sat. Oct. 26, the Mt. Elphinstone Masonic Society will host a Hallo-ween dinner, doors at 4 p.m. Costume dress, ghouls and goblins, potluck dinner 6 to 10 p.m., $20 tickets at the door, corner of Hwy. 101 and Roberts Creek Road. All ages welcome.

This week’s entrepreneur is Hayley Wort at Creek Pilates, 1500 Henderson Rd. Her small class setting will lead you to a stronger and more flexible body. Beginner lessons are Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., other classes run Mondays at 5 p.m., Wednesdays at 9 a.m., Thursdays at 6 p.m. and Fridays at 10 a.m.  A four-class package is $66, drop-in is $18.50. Do you have a child who is more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent and energetic? Saturday, Oct. 26, author, family therapist and Positive Discipline Trainer Sarah Joseph presents Working With Your Spirited Child, sharing tools for parents wanting to support their spirited children. At Roberts Creek Elementary School Music Room, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., $45/person (+$20/co-parent). Advance registration required at sarahjoseph.as.me/spiritedchild.

Sunshine Coast Stream-keepers are starting their monthly invasive plant removal events again. Saturday, Oct. 26, take the beach access off Metcalfe Road and meet on the foot bridge over Malcolm Creek, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring water, gloves, eye protection, small clippers, and gardening clothes. Message them on Facebook for more information.

The kitchen is done, and Friday night dinners are back. Roberts Creek Legion #219 again has fantastic meals starting at 5:30 p.m., now prepared by the talented Farm to Feast crew. Kids are welcome as long as the kitchen is open, usually to around 9:30 p.m. Acoustic sets are played in the early part of the dinner.

After dinner Oct. 25, Vancouver’s Lucid Afterlife will take over, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., $8 members, $15 guests. Saturday night, Oct. 26, brings the Muffdusters and Caracas for a Halloween party ($8/$15). Dress up! Or don’t, I’m not your mom.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, the first Friday of the month (that’s next Friday) Legion #219 has Brain Freeze Trivia – super fun times. Bring a team or make one up there; the games begin at 7:45 sharp. (BTW, my team won last month, so bring your A game, eh?)
