Pender Harbour & Egmont: Forest paradise and logging consultation

We the residents of the Harbour Egmont appreciate our paradise, now more than ever. The natural beauty of the forests has provided sanctuary, solace, peace and sanity for all who have walked within, especially during these unusual, unsettling times.

We the residents of the Harbour Egmont appreciate our paradise, now more than ever. The natural beauty of the forests has provided sanctuary, solace, peace and sanity for all who have walked within, especially during these unusual, unsettling times.

The magnificent trails of the Suncoast Trail network off Menacher Road are breathtaking and favourites of many. How horrible that logging is underway, again, in proximity.

In Egmont, North Lake area BC Timber Sales is planning for a public consultation meeting on the evening of June 25 to review the proposed plan with all community members. The meeting will occur online. To receive the Zoom meeting invite link, please RSVP by emailing Forests.Chinook
TimberSalesOffice@gov.bc.ca. I encourage everyone to share these details.

On a happier note, those wonderful forest gnomes have been busy creating new paths that are truly breathtaking, almost magical! Named after Pender Harbour’s most loved Golden Girl, Quin’s Quadrangle is pure joy just like the Goldie herself.

Great news from the finest and friendliest thrift store on the Coast – The Bargain Barn’s pop up store in the Hall has been extended to include Wednesday, July 1 and Saturday, July 4, noon to 3 p.m. Bargains galore just in time for your summertime wardrobe and household needs. Please practise protocols, distancing, masks, gloves and instructions for shopping.

The Harbour Gallery will open for three days a week in July and August – Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting July 3. Private showings can be booked as of the end of this month. I hope you having been enjoying and shopping the fine art of our local artists on Facebook: Harbour Gallery Madeira Park and Instagram harbourgallerysunshinecoast

Father’s Day this Sunday can be celebrated in fine style at The Clubhouse, a very special place with a very special performer in The House: Joe Stanton. Come for breakfast, brunch, lunch, appies and/or dinner. The music goes from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Talking fave food haunts, the Skookumchuck Bakery and Café’s cinny buns have such a huge fan club they ask that you order ahead online at info@skookumchuckbakery.ca. Include size: little, not so little, icing or no, time and date. Preparation time is three hours.

Be safe, be kind, follow protocols and thank all those heroes out there taking such good care of us. Contact me with your news at dilysanne@hotmail.com for the Friday edition of Coast Reporter.
