Pender Harbour: Christmas Com­munity Dinner on Sunday

The Annual Pender Harbour Christmas Community Dinner at the Hall on Sunday, Dec. 8 will start with kids’ crafts at 3:30 p.m., visits with Santa, raffles and door prizes, with Lighting of the Tree at 5:30 p.m.

Another fantastic jam last Sunday with the fabulous Steve Hinton Band. This Sunday, Dec. 8 at The Clubhouse, two of the Coast’s superstars, Joe Stanton and Simon Paradis, will headline what will be a great show. Come enjoy outstanding music, food, drinks and warm hospitality from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission by donation. 

The Annual Pender Harbour Christmas Community Dinner at the Hall on Sunday, Dec. 8 will start with kids’ crafts at 3:30 p.m., visits with Santa, raffles and door prizes. One of the highlights of the Festive season in the Harbour, Lighting of the Tree will happen at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will follow. Admission is free. Donations for the food bank are welcome as are desserts for the dinner. 

The Pender Harbour Garden Club welcomes Kathleen Suddes, owner operator of the award-winning Roberts Creek Honey, on Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at the School of Music. Kathleen, a resident of the Coast since 1988 and a graduate of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Bee Master program, apprenticed for many years before purchasing the small scale, hands-on family operated business. Complimentary tea and goodies served after the presentation. 

The Women’s Connection Christmas Cabaret will be held Dec. 10 featuring the highly praised singer/pianist Patricia Burnett and catered by Oui Cook. This event is sold out. For those with a reservation, doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Women’s Connection wishes everyone a Merry Christmas! 

The same date in the evening, climb aboard the Polar Express Christmas Light Tour. Bus departs Madeira Park at 7 p.m. tours the light show along Francis Peninsula Road and returns at 8 or 8:30 p.m. Purchase your ticket for $5 at Harbour Insurance or EarthFair Store. 

There will be an Advance Care Planning workshop Dec. 11, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pender Harbour Health Centre. Join Caron Hawrychuk from Vancouver Coastal Health and Joan Hibbard from Sunshine Coast Hospice Society. RSVP to chawrychuk@gmail.com or 604-883-2595. 

Harbourside Friendship Thursday, Dec. 12 welcomes the women’s vocal trio Triad when they get together at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall. Lunch served at noon. 

Christmas Bingo, Thursday Dec. 12 starts off at 6:30 p.m. at the Hall. Bring something tasty to share for the potluck and a donation for the Food Bank. Gift exchange is optional. Winner(s) of the Christmas PH Community Club 50/50 raffle multiple $500 cash prizes will be drawn. Make sure to get your tickets. Thanks to everyone who has supported bingo throughout the year. The Almost Christmas Faire, Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Hall, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be a fun festive family event where you can finish up your Christmas shopping. Kids of all ages can craft something special to take home at Liz’s creative centre. Take a break and enjoy a warm apple cider, coffee, tea and a sweet home baked treat. Hosted by the Pender Harbour Community Club. 

The Pender Harbour Branch of Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary is asking for donations In Lieu of Cards. Send holiday greetings to friends and family, donors names mentioned as well, to be published in Coast Reporter. All donations go towards purchasing much needed equipment for our local hospital.
