Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

The new season of pickleball at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School begins Wednesday, Sept. 6, and runs each Wednesday until the school closes for the holidays in December.

New players of all skill levels are welcome to drop in and play. All equipment is provided. Cost is $3 per session. First time is free.  For more information, email Don Cunliffe at doncunliffe@gmail.com or Tim Dayton at tim.j.dayton@gmail.com.

The new updated trail brochure funded by the Halfmoon Bay Citizens’ Association in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Trails Society is now available at Halfmoon Bay General Store, Welcome Woods Market, the two new kiosks at Trout Lake and Sargeant Bay and at the visitor centre in Sechelt. Look for the picture of the newly painted Welcome to Halfmoon Bay sign incorporated into the brochure. Pick up your copy soon.

Terry Karleen is reaching out to the community, especially past members of Welcome Beach Community Association or anyone who may have some history of the old Welcome Beach Community Hall. Karleen is gathering information, photographs and stories from the beginning of the hall. Contact him at karleen@telus.net or 604-885-7452.

Do you have a crop of apples you don’t need? They can be dropped off at Dolphin Physio’s back door, #102 - 5711 Mermaid St., Sechelt. Call 604-885-2969 if you need help with picking or have questions or if you want to be on the AppleFest organizing committee.

The AppleFest committee is looking for upcoming artists waiting to be discovered. New for this year, AppleFest is included in the Art Crawl on the Oct. 20 to 22 weekend at Coopers Green Park. This is a great way to display your talents to the community. Contact Katie Angermeyer at anger
meyerkatie@gmail.com for more information.

Poppa Greg and the Chillin’ Dylans will be playing Oct. 21 at the Boogie, Brats and Beer event, part of AppleFest celebrations.

If you are a marine enthusiast who likes to learn new skills, consider volunteering with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue. They are looking for both active crew positions and supporting society volunteers.
