Halfmoon Bay Happenings

HALFMOON BAY

The annual Apple Fest is this weekend in Halfmoon Bay (Oct. 18 and 19).

Apples and maple (hardwood) are both still needed, as are volunteers for Saturday’s apple preparation.

You can drop-off donations of apples and firewood at Dolphin Physio located at 5711 Mermaid Street in Sechelt or call 604-885-2969.

Volunteers are needed starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday to start the fire and put up tarps and tents, kettle stirring shifts (two hours) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then canning (the Flying Apple Saucers), from 3 to 6 p.m.

On Sunday volunteers are also required to man the children’s activity table from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and selling apple butter and candy apples from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you can help in any way, please contact Katie at 604-885-2969.

As for the festival itself, after all the prep work is done on Saturday, check out Back Porch Reunion performing at Coopers Green Hall at the Brats and Beer night sponsored by the Welcome Beach Community Association.

Doors open at 6:30, dinner at 7 p.m. and the show follows dinner. Tickets are $15, available at the Halfmoon Bay General Store and Welcome Woods Market.

On Sunday, come back to Cooper’s Green and buy the apple butter in support of the Food Bank, and have another go at stirring. Bring a donation for the Food Bank.  Festivities start at 11 a.m. with traditional drumming, music, songs, soup, pie, pony rides, kids fun, produce and much more.

See www.halfmoonbayapplefestival.com for all the details.
