The Halfmoon Bay Community Association’s (HBCA) Families in Need campaign brought in $2,505 directly and $2,645 through GoFundMe.

The school also received a separate donation of $3,000 from Parish of St. Columbia of Iona Church, which has supported our school and families for many years.

How was the money distributed?

• 11 Christmas hampers were made and given to families in need.

• 22 shoe boxes were filled and distributed to local vulnerable youth.

• $5,450 will go towards the Hot Breakfast Program as well as plans to provide support to families at different times throughout the year. Also, reusable bowls, plates, utensils and other kitchen supplies will be purchased to help with the Breakfast Program.

Volunteers are needed. If you can help, contact Wendy White at wwhite@sd46.bc.ca or 604-551-8461.

Thank you to Wendy and all her helpers/volunteers, and to Jay Davis for being the lead in this amazing campaign. Huge thank yous to our very generous community for stepping forward and donating whatever they could to this very worthy cause!

As HBCA’s Cindy Kisser said: “We are so proud, thankful and inspired to live in such a caring community.”
