Halfmoon Bay: Congratulations, Leah!

Congratulations to Leah Pearson-White from Halfmoon Bay who represented Vancouver Coastal as part of the team that won gold at the BC Winter Games.

Congratulations to Leah Pearson-White from Halfmoon Bay who represented Vancouver Coastal as part of the team that won gold at the BC Winter Games. Leah also took fifth place in Kumite (Freestyle) and also won the overall Female Sportsmanship Award presented by Karate BC. See the full story in the sports section.

Tickets are now available for the Halfmoon Bay Branch of the SC Healthcare Auxiliary’s fourth annual Fabulous Bridge Luncheon, being held May 7 at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens, 5941 Mason Rd. in West Sechelt from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a scrumptious lunch, door prizes, silent auction and baking. Pickleball is Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., subject to closure due to weather conditions. Check HMBCommunity.org for updates. Cost is $4/per session (first time is free) at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School gym. There are three courts set up for beginner, intermediate, advanced, and all equipment is included along with instruction and coaching.

Over the past few years the Herring Enhancement Project on the Sunshine Coast has been supported by SCREDO. This year Halfmoon Bay Community Association will participate along with Pender Ocean Discovery Station (PODS) the Lagoon Society, and four Rotary Clubs from Pender Harbour to Gibsons.
