Halfmoon Bay: Andrew Collins Trio to perform

The Andrew Collins Trio has been nominated for five Juno awards and seven Canadian Folk Music awards, for Instrumental Group of the Year.

The Andrew Collins Trio has been nominated for five Juno awards and seven Canadian Folk Music awards, for Instrumental Group of the Year. “Raw and grooving bluegrass music played with grace and sophistication of a classical string quartet,” says a review from R2 Magazine. They will be at Coopers Green Hall on Saturday, Feb. 1, 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Halfmoon Bay Community Association. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at HMB General Store, Welcome Woods Market and at Pastimes in Sechelt. This concert is expected to sell out early so don’t delay in getting your tickets. 

Halfmoon Bay Com-munity Association (HMBCA) is holding its annual membership drive. Membership is free, and as a member you will receive emails regarding upcoming events, concerts and various Halfmoon Bay community activities. Volunteers are always welcome for events, especially the Halfmoon Bay Fair on the second weekend of July, the Apple Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, and Breakfast with Santa.

Pickleball is on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School gym. There are three courts set up for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, and all equipment is included along with instruction and coaching. Cost is $4/per session (first time is free).

This Friday, Jan. 17 is HMB Tween Night, 6:30 to 8 p.m. for grades 5 to 7. Come join your friends for games and fun, $5 drop-in includes dinner.
