Drop in Sept. 3 to learn about medical services since COVID

The Bargain Barn will continue its two-for-one BOGO Sale though the last days of August at the Legion, Saturdays and Wednesdays. The pop-up remains for the month of September. Donations are accepted at the original Barn location next to PH Community Hall, Wednesdays. There is a two-bag limit per person and items must be sorted and only those select categories and new or gently used goods will be accepted. 

Madeira Market, Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is always a fun place to visit and shop. Naomi from Huckleberry Studio will be there with her exquisite pottery including delightful birdhouses. Rachel with her dazzling designs on rocks always has intriguing creations. Big dahlia bouquets, a treat for you or a lucky hostess, just $10 including vase. Glittering gemstone bracelets are the perfect memento of sunny, summer days in the harbour. Masks made locally available. Guest vendors too! Proceeds to the PHCC to maintain our Hall. 

The Harbour Gallery is a lovely place to visit. The works of art are a feast for the eyes. The Harbour artists have outdone themselves during these COVID times creating forever treasures that could be yours. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 

Seniors Initiative throughout September will continue with carpet bowling, Wednesdays 1 to 3 p.m. The popular chair yoga with Carole Logtenburg will continue Fridays but also add Mondays as of Sept. 14. New time for both will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Come improve your balance, strength and flexibility with gentle moves. Please note no class Sept. 25. 

Harbourside Friendship’s Thursday drop-in program continues in the courtyard outside The Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. On Sept. 3 the presentation is “Navigating the Medical Services since COVID.” Come learn and share what to expect for the balance of 2020 and beyond. Get together at 10:30 a.m., bring a chair and lunch. Gathering will move in The Hall if the weather is uncooperative. 

Pender Harbour’s favourite musical threesome, the Peter Van Trio, returns to The Clubhouse this Sunday, Aug. 30, 2 to 5 p.m. The Patio is the perfect venue to enjoy outstanding music, food, bevies and the warm hospitality of Mike and his family aka staff. Reservations recommended. 

September is fast approaching, an anxious time for many. Now more than ever we must practise the protocols put in place by our government health officials. Times are changing, number of cases increasing. Many of our frontline warriors are weary and worn out. We thank you and salute you. You deserve medals for your outstanding service to all.
