Our names are Georgia Eccles and Ciahni Marreiros, we are students at Learning Expeditions in Squamish. We are very concerned about climate change and how it is affecting us all. We are not of voting age yet, and you might even say that we shouldn’t be worrying about politics at our age. We agree that we shouldn’t have to worry about these sorts of things but the decisions you make can greatly impact the shape of our future.

We only have 8.5 years left until we hit that tipping point where we can’t reverse the effects of global warming. If the situation gets to this point, we will have to live with it for the rest of eternity and it can only get worse unless we do something now.

We hope that we can fix this soon because some of the impacts of climate change are malnutrition, injuries, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases as well as water-borne and insect-transmitted diseases. Many are already suffering from changes brought on by the heating of the planet. The majority of Canadians want to address the issue and are addressing the issue of climate change to keep a safe environment for their kids, grandchildren and the children who are yet to be born.
