As a plus, the concert is free and dessert made by the students will be served to everyone.

The Screening Mammography Program of British Columbia will be at the Squamish General Hospital from Thursday (May 27) to Friday, June 10. Women ages 40 to 79 years are eligible to have a mammogram every two years but those over 79 years are eligible on the recommendation of their doctor. Your friends, family or neighbours may be sending you the Pretty Pink Potty to help raise funds to flush out cancer. Plumbing politics are $10 to have it taken away, $20 to have it taken away and given to a friend and $30 for toilet insurance, meaning it will be taken away, given to a friend of your choice and will not come back to you. This initiative is part of The Highland Cougars Relay for Life team fundraising efforts, and last year raised over $1,000 in the two weeks it was in circulation. It will be in circulation again this year from May 14 until May 30.

Your chance to visit the new Squamish Seniors' Centre at 1201 Village Green Way and located in the Rockcliffe apartment building is Thursday (May 27) when the seniors hold a Spring Market from 2 to 6 p.m. Almost every day, seniors are dropping off their hand-knitted and crocheted items along with arts and crafts, floral arrangements and household items. Perhaps you will pick up a treasure or two!

Prior to the Senior Centre Spring Market on May 27, the monthly soup and sandwich luncheon begins at noon. Tickets are $7 for members and $8 for non-members. The chief soup makers, Ray Miles, Glen Rudkin and Bill Berg and a host of volunteers including the high school students from Howe Sound Secondary School make this day special for many seniors.

The Friends of the Squamish Public Library will be holding a Spring Book Sale on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. The library has been clearing shelves to make way for new books, so this is your opportunity to take home your summer reading at little cost. In addition, the public is invited to donate their gently read books for someone else to enjoy. Please to not take textbooks, encyclopedias, manuals or Reader's Digest books as they will be thrown in the garbage and you can do that yourself. Proceeds from the book sale go towards supporting programs at the library.

The Over the Hill Hikers will meet at the corner of Government and Ross Roads on Tuesday (May 25) at 9 a.m. for a Green Lake to Parkhurst-Whistler hike. For more information, please call Heather at 604-892-9003.

On Friday, May 28, the Grizzly Bar and Grill and the Chicks in Motion Relay for Life team invite you to join them for a Burger and Beer night to raise funds for a most worthy cause, the Canadian Cancer Society. The $10 ticket includes a beer and a burger and are available in advance at the Grizzly Bar or by calling Eleanor at 604-898-5416.

WOW bike riders ride in all kinds of weather and on Monday (May 24) you are asked to meet at Canadian Tire to ride through the Tantalus area to Ray's Trail.

The Squamish Public Library will be closed on Monday (May 24) for the Victoria Day holiday. At the evening book discussion on Thursday (May 27) the book Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson will be discussed.

The next casino trip for seniors will be next Wednesday (May 26) to the Starlight Casino in Queensborgh (New Westminster) and the cutoff date to phone Elaine at 604-898-5463 is tomorrow (May 22).

Thomas the Tank Engine is chugging into the West Coast Railway Heritage Park again next month on the weekends of Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6 and on June 12 and 13. Thomas promises a longer trip this year and tickets are on sale at $20 for those two years and up at www.ticketweb.ca or by calling 1-888-222-6608.

Howe Sound Women's Centre Society is offering a Multicultural Outreach Services (MOS) Program each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. The support group is for immigrant and refugee women. This is an opportunity for newcomers to discuss issues relating to settling in Canada. The services include: appointment making, form filling, interpretation/translation in Punjabi. Jail and Bail - Lock up for Cancer! On Friday, June 4, at the Squamish Relay for Life participating "Jailbirds" will be hauled into centre court and placed in a jail until they raise their bail! During that hour, they will be calling their friends and family asking them to make the donation they need to meet (or exceed) their bail. Funds raised during the Jail and Bail will go towards the final goal of the Squamish Relay for Life supporting research and support programs funded by the Canadian Cancer Society. The first monthly draw for the 2010-2011 series of the Rotary 200 Club Lottery was held at the Rotary luncheon meeting at the Howe Sound Inn on May 6, 2010. The winners were: Greg Hoff ($100), Bell Carson ($120), Tonny Mortensen ($130) and Arlene Byrne ($150).
