Squamish council voted unanimously to award an approximately $220,000 tender to Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. for pump and piping work at the Powerhouse Springs production well.

The award was granted during council’s Sept. 3 meeting.

A staff report says the Powerhouse Springs Production Well Project aims to replace the decommissioned well Number 3.

This would increase the town’s water supply capacity to ensure the District has enough to meet current and future demands of the community, it reads.

Powerhouse Springs has seven water wells, and one of them was recently decommissioned because of maintenance issues.

“The new production well is intended to be a high capacity well that will increase the District’s overall water supply capacity and provide additional capacity to accommodate approximately five to 10 years of community growth,” the report says.
