Winner of Squamish hockey tourney scores with 16 seconds left

On the third day of the tournament Squamish A1 faces off on the ice against Cloverdale A3 on Saturday, Nov. 9.

In the final game of the Squamish Remembrance Day Atom A Tournament, the Alberni team took the win. After holding a tie with Surrey most of the game, the Alberni team made the tie-breaking score to win gold— with only 16 seconds left on the clock, organizer Lisa Turpin told The Chief.

The tournament, held Nov. 7 to Nov. 11, brought 245 players together to face off on the ice at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre in Squamish.

Port Moody A2 took home the Team Spirit award.

The Top 5 teams during the tournament are as follows: 

 *Alberni Valley MHA Atom Bulldogs: 13 points (5 wins, 0 losses, 3 sportsmanship points)

*North Vancouver MHA Atom A1: 12 points  (4 wins, 1 loss, 4 sportsmanship points)

*Mission MHA Atom A1: 11 points (4 wins, 1 loss, 3 sportsmanship points)

*Arbutus Club Atom A1: 11 points (3 wins, 2 losses, 5 sportsmanship points)

*Port Moody AHA Atom A2: 10 points (3 wins, 2 losses, 4 sportsmanship points)
