Tourism Prince George has launched the first phase of its new branding on Monday.

Phase one of the rebranding includes a totally-redesigned website, with new photos, videos and slogan: "Basecamp to the north."

"The north does provide the opportunity for the quintessential Canadian experience," Tourism Prince George CEO Tracey McBride said. "We are the basecamp for the north, and all of those adventures."

Prince George offers a blend of rural, outdoor adventure activities, with urban cultural amenities, she said.

"If you're not into outdoor hiking, maybe you're into theatre instead," she said.

Some of the new features the new site offers include an interactive accommodations map for Prince George; a directory of restaurants, things to do, experiences and venues; a dedicated page for staycation packages; social media galleries; a Basecamp Blog featuring contributions from locals, suggested itineraries and unique activities.

Tourism Prince George will be rolling out additional branding efforts starting this fall and into 2021, McBride said. Prince George branded clothing items and swag is one of the initiatives they're hoping to get going.

"When you do a brand, it is constantly evolving," McBride said.

Mayor Lyn Hall called on Prince George residents to adopt the brand and use it to encourage visitors to check out what the city has to offer.

"Be one of the armchair ambassadors who helps Tourism Prince George and the City of Prince George to promote the city," Hall said. "It really is an opportunity to showcase our city, and there is a lot to showcase."
