Resource Workers United and The North Matters will be holding a truck rally on Jan. 29, just prior to Premier John Horgan's address to the B.C. Natural Resources Forum.
A convoy of trucks, service vehicles and other vehicles is expected to start at Boundary Road near Highway 16, and proceed to the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre starting at 10 a.m. Seven speakers are expected to address the rally outside the civic centre starting at 11:30 a.m.
"Many Western Canadian families are struggling under forestry closure and foreign-funded interference in our resource development," The North Matters founder Dave Johnston said in a press release. "With thousands of people out of work, the only solution is for resource people to unite and offer solutions. Our goal is to combine and amplify those voices."
It is the second year the rally has been held to coincide with the Natural Resources Forum. Last year's event drew about 50 people, including some members of the right-wing, anti-immigrant yellow vest movement and a single counter-protester supporting the Unist'ot'en camp blockade.
