A recent transplant to Prince George will be showcased in a new online adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice.

Elena Unraw, who moved to town from Abbotsford last fall, takes on the role of Caroline.
Unraw said she loves Pride & Prejudice so much she's even named one of her three children after a character in the book.

Unraw was invited to join the cast by Reg Parks, the artistic director for Theatre in the Country that is producing the play's adaptation created by Nicola Shannon.
Parks is Unraw's former high school drama teacher.

"I've continued to be part of various theatrical projects for Reg and this is one of them," Unraw said.
After high school Unraw was part of the ensemble Good Soil Theatre, a touring company that traveled across the country to fundraise for projects like Ronald McDonald House Charities.

After moving away from the Lower Mainland and COVID-19 came along Unraw discovered Theatre in the Country adapted from live dinner theatre to providing online entertainment and when she reached out during the pre-show chat of a performance Parks told Unraw she could be part of a future production, she said.
Finding a new way for audiences to engage in live theatre during the coronavirus pandemic the theatre company has turned to the online platform Zoom to offer a version of the Victorian classic.

"If you've been in a Zoom meeting it's basically like that but the audience turns off their video and only actors who are in the current scene will be seen," Unraw explained the process.

The live readers' theatre presentation takes place July 24 and 25 at theatreinthecountry.com with a minimum fee of $5.
After the play there is a talkback session with cast and crew and special guests each night through Zoom offering an inclusive feeling to the event.
