An evacuation order was issued Saturday for nine homes near McBride while residents on Farrell Street in Prince George have been placed on evacuation alert.
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George issued the evacuation order for the homes in the Mountain View Road area near McBride as a result of debris flow along Willox Creek early Saturday.
Those in the evacuation order area have been asked to leave the area and register with the Regional District by calling 250-960-4400 or 1-800-667-1959.
Meanwhile, the City of Prince George has told the residents of Farrell Street across from Paddlewheel Park to be on evacuation alert due to significant risk of flooding from the Fraser River.
The BC River Forecast Centre is predicting the river level at South Fort George could reach between 9.5 to 9.8 metres this weekend. Currently, the Fraser River at South Fort George is at about 9.4 metres.
The recent heavy rainfall in the Fraser River Basin has caused the river and its tributaries to rise significantly.
Sand and sandbags are available to the residents of Farrell Street and are positioned at the north end of the Street.
Paddlewheel Park, Hazelton Park, Cottonwood Island Park and the Heritage River Trail from the Cameron Street Bridge to Taylor Drive are all closed due to the rising river levels. Nechako Riverside Park and McMillan Creek remain open, but staff are monitoring the river levels along the park banks.
