Samsonite bags Hartmann for $35M

Samsonite International SA bought high-end luggage brand Hartmann Thursday in a $35 million US push to win a bigger share of the luxury travel goods market and build U.S. sales.

Samsonite International SA bought high-end luggage brand Hartmann Thursday in a $35 million US push to win a bigger share of the luxury travel goods market and build U.S. sales.

In its second deal in as many months, Samsonite, the world's largest luggage maker, acquired Hartmann from private equity firm Clarion Capital Partners for $35 million in cash.

Last month, Luxembourg based Samsonite said it would buy High Sierra Sport Co. for $110 million, aiming for a larger share of the North American casual bag market. -
