On the Street: Royal B.C. Museum adds new directors

The Royal B.C. Museum has added three new members to its board of directors — Nanon de Gaspé Beaubien-Mattrick, Karen Aird and Lenora Lee.

The Royal B.C. Museum has added three new members to its board of directors — Nanon de Gaspé Beaubien-Mattrick, Karen Aird and Lenora Lee.

De Gaspé Beaubien-Mattrick is the founder and president of Beehive Holdings, Maison Victoria Homes and MdGB Capital. She is a board member of Photonics and the de Gaspé Beaubien Foundation and is a past board member of PetNet, Allocadia Software, Vancouver General Hospital, the Vancouver Symphony and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs.

Aird is a member of Saulteau First Nations in Treaty 8 Territory of B.C. She is heritage manager for the First Peoples’ Cultural Council and a founder/president of the Indigenous Heritage Circle, a national organization.

Aird has worked as an archeologist and in cultural heritage management for the past 23 years on many projects that convey a strong sense of place in Indigenous landscapes, encompassing the stories, legal traditions and the intangible and tangible elements into Indigenous heritage.

Lee is a partner with KPMG LLP. She is a director of the Government Finance Officers Association of British Columbia. She is also chair of the Government Organizations Audit and Accounting Forum for the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.

Duncan appoints public works chief

The City of Duncan has hired Brian Murphy as its new director of public works and engineering.

Murphy was previously with the City of Victoria as assistant director of public works. He replaces retired director of public works and development services Emmet McCusker, who had been working for Duncan since 2017.

Peter de Verteuil. Duncan’s chief administrative officer, said Murphy has “extensive knowledge of the local government, strong engineering and leadership background, and will be a great asset to the corporate culture here at the city.”
