On the Street: Dealership sold, new managers, clean start

Peter Baljet has sold his General Motors dealership on the Trans-Canada Highway north of Duncan to the AutoCanada Group, which owns 30 dealerships in six provinces across the country, including Victoria Hyundai. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Baljet was considered one of the higher-volume GM dealers on the Island and B.C. He will continue to run his Discovery Honda dealership, also north of Duncan, and live in the Cowichan Valley. AutoCanada calls itself Canada’s largest multi-location dealership network in Canada, selling Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Volkswagen and Fiat brands.

New manager for Sidney bank

Brent Bickerton has been appointed branch manager of BMO Bank of Montreal in Sidney, replacing Shelley Perkins, who has taken a position with the bank’s B.C. Division office in Vancouver. Bickerton has 15 years of banking experience and joined BMO in 2010. He was previously branch manager in James Bay. He also volunteers as a reserve sergeant with the Saanich Police.

NAI Victoria adds staff

NAI Commercial (Victoria) Ltd. has added two new real estate specialists. Andre Beauregard joins from NAI Vancouver and specializes in multi-family properties while Steve Nguyen will work with Kyle Porter in sub-division and new construction areas. NAI Victoria is headed by veteran real estate broker Bev Highton, who has more than 45 years in the business. Call 250-381-2265.

Century Group Inc. Constructors has named Cameron Barnes as senior project manager and estimator for its western division. Toronto-based Century, specializing in construction and project management, has offices in Vancouver and Victoria, at 5150 Cordova Bay Rd.

On the move

Gale Penhall, a senior account manager for Burnaby-based Mitchell Press, has relocated to Victoria to service printing needs of publishers, graphic designers, tourism associates and learning institutions. Mitchell has been operating in B.C. for more than 80 years ... Luv-A-Rug owner Stephen Roberts is relocating his rug-cleaning business to 445 Beta St. It has been a fixture on Oak Street for more than 20 years ...
