Victoria-based Carmanah Technologies has acquired marine navigation products under the EKTA brand from Cybernetica AS of Estonia. “The EKTA products will strengthen our worldwide product portfolio and allow us to provide more comprehensive single-source solutions for our marine customers,” said Carmanah chief executive John Simmons. “At the same time, the assignment of Cybernetica’s sales contracts adds to our overall market share and our position as the dominant provider in Europe.” Carmanah paid 1.35 million euros for the products. The first million is due on closing and the rest on the first anniversary of closing.
Royals Roads University board adds accountant
Charles (Chuck) Chandler, a chartered professional accountant and business valuator for more than 30 years, has been appointed by the provincial government to the Royal Roads University board of governors. Chandler is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP and former partner at Hayes Stewart Little & Co. in Victoria. He is also a fellow and past president of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. His public service includes chairing the accounting policy advisory committee to the B.C. minister of finance from 2008 to 2012.
Running RoomTC 10K partner
Victoria International Running Society, operators of the TC10K, has named The Running Room Canada as of the official specialty retail partner for the race on April 30. The Running Room will be set up at the TC10K exposition and package pickup at Crystal Garden on race weekend and provide support to the run clinics leading up to race day.
Pet food delivery service launched
Local businessman Mike Grover and his daughter, Kyla Novak, have joined forces and obtained the franchise rights to Greater Victoria for Homeward Bound Pet Food Delivery. It specializes in free delivery of premium grain-free dog and cat food that is made in B.C. Novak, a licensed veterinary assistant specializing in nutrition, runs the day-to-day operations. Pacifica Housing adds property boss
Pacifica Housing has appointed Colleen Cybulski as director of property services. She will oversee the management of Pacifica Housing’s portfolio and maintenance to ensure quality standards. She comes to Pacifica Housing with 12 years experience in property management, including work in the private sector, non-profit housing as well as in the housing department of the city of Guelph, Ont. Pacifica Housing provides affordable housing and support in Greater Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo. It has 33 buildings and 950 units, providing homes for 1,500 people.
