A new specially commissioned work of art will be displayed in the lower passenger departure lounge at the Victoria International Airport in spring 2020.

Artist Charles Campbell’s work, called Time Catcher, was selected from nearly 100 applications.

A 36-foot diameter ring will be suspended from the ceiling and will hold pieces reminiscent of three-sided wooden vessels based on designs of ships and canoes.

“I hope to create a space that allows people a moment of pause and wonder, one to consider how their movements connect to larger patterns and to contemplate the possibilities of the future,” Campbell said.

The project’s budget is $100,000.
