The newest entry into Victoria's Thai cuisine market has opened its doors in Cadboro Bay.

Thai Lemongrass opened its doors and its small patio Friday, offering what it calls an authentic and traditional Thai menu.

According to restaurant controller George Molnar, the restaurant has brought together a "dream team" of four chefs in the kitchen under the direction of head chef Kachen Pengkanont and aims to set itself apart from the Thai-cuisine crowd in the city.

The 81-seat restaurant will offer meals from all regions of Thailand including 28 vegetarian selections.

Molnar said the kitchen team was trained at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok.

"Thai Lemongrass will complement the other food establishments in [Cadboro Bay] Village and provide another strong reason to shop and dine in Cadboro Bay. Thai Lemongrass intends to become a destination restaurant," Pengkanont said in a statement.

The restaurant, at 3838 Cadboro Bay Rd., is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday 11-2: 30 p.m. and 4-9 p.m. On Saturday it is open 4-9: 30 p.m. and Sunday 4-9 p.m.

Takeout service is available.
