Victoria businesses hit by vandalism and break-ins since Jan. 1 can now apply for reimbursements on the repairs.

The Downtown Victoria Business Association said $60,000 is available through grants from the city.

Individual grants of up to $1,000 are available to any business that experiences vandalism between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31. To be eligible, businesses must submit proof of the insurance deductible amount, receipts for completed repair work and the police file number associated with the incident.

“We continue to look for ways we can support businesses impacted by the pandemic,” Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps said in a statement. “This new grant program is another way we can show our support and help ensure downtown remains open and inviting for everyone.”

The program is being managed by the DVBA and businesses that want to apply can email info@downtownvictoria.ca.
