The Nanaimo Port Authority has elected Michelle Corfield as the new chair of its board of directors. Corfield, appointed by the City of Nanaimo, replaces Moira Jenkins, who resigned from the post last week after serving for three years.

“I am excited to work with the team in this new role. I believe that we will be able to work collaboratively and collectively with our community partners to position Nanaimo for new economic opportunities,” said Corfield, an entrepreneur with businesses in a number of sectors including the commercial fishing industry. The vice chair is Donna Hais, who is a federal appointee. Hais is a partner in construction firm R.W. (Bob) Wall Ltd.
