“We have always attracted a broad spectrum of applicants — from students to seniors — for spring and summer, with many returning during the Christmas season and year after year,” said Jeannie Christison, director of human resources.
“Offering a great training ground in the industry, we pride ourselves in providing a friendly, welcoming environment in which to work. Many of our seasonal staff move on to other positions within the company.”
Butchart Gardens has more than 600 employees during peak times. The company said it emphasizes job equity, safety and thorough on-the-job training, with senior staff acting as mentors.
The fair is being staged in the coffee shop at 800 Benvenuto Ave. A special gate will be open for the event. B.C. Transit will be operating routes 81 and 75 with service to the gardens on Wednesday evening.
