Island Savings credit union experiences technical problems

First West Credit Union and its divisions, including Island Savings Credit Union, experienced a technical problem originating with a service provider early Thursday afternoon.

The issue meant members were unable to use online banking or automated teller machines between 1 p.m. and 1:50 p.m., said Brian Bevilacqua, First West spokesman.

Island Savings has 14 branches, with eight open and six closed as it works to return to usual service in the wake of the pandemic.

On July 13, the 933 Douglas St. branch in Victoria and the Mill Bay branch at 38-2720 Mill Bay Rd. are set to reopen.
