Flair Airline’s seasonal service between Victoria and Edmonton wraps up for the season late next month, with plans to return next year.

“Victoria and Halifax remain seasonal routes and, as planned, services there will conclude on Oct. 27, 2018, with an expected return in the spring of 2019,” said a company statement.

The low-cost Kelowna-based carrier introduced the Victoria-Edmonton service on June 15. Fares for one-way flights were as low as $39.

When the Victoria-Edmonton service was announced in April, it was one of five new destinations for the Kelowna-based airline. It has announced it is discontinuing service to Hamilton International Airport.

The company said new direct routes include daily service from Toronto to Winnipeg, with connections to Calgary and Vancouver.

Flair was previously in Victoria for a short time in 2016.

It had worked with Winnipeg-based NewLeaf Travel Co., which ran low-cost flights between Victoria and Kamloops, and Edmonton and Winnipeg. NewLeaf began service in July 2016 and suspended it late that year. Flair bought NewLeaf last year. — Times Colonist
