Fairway Market has acquired the Western Foods grocery store in Langford.

The company said in a statement Tuesday it will be rebranding and reopening the store at 722 Goldstream Ave. to a Fairway Market on March 1.

It will be the second store in Langford for Fairway Market, which opened in Westshore Town Centre in 1987, and the 10th in the company’s chain.

Fairway opened its first store in 1963 and has grown to become one of the Vancouver Island’s largest independently owned grocery stores.

“Fairway Market is proud to take the reins from Western Foods Langford and continue with the core values and traditions of quality products, quality service and excellent value while supporting the community,” Fairway Market said in a statement Tuesday.
