Vancouver-based Element Lifestyle Retirement is preparing to sell and rent homes at the $88-million, 153,000-square-foot Aquara by Element at the 20-acre Bayview Place site on Songhees.

With the philosophy of “aging in place” driving it, Aquara is designed to offer a transition for older adults from independence to assisted living to complex care. The development will offer 157 suites with 47 condos, 75 rental suites, and 35 suites providing licensed care.

Suites will be available to purchase or rent as of Aug. 17. The company expects construction to be complete and available to buyers in late 2020.
