West Shore RCMP arrested a suspected impaired driver with three children in her car after a two-vehicle collision in Langford.

Police who responded to the crash in the 800 block of Goldstream Avenue around 4:4o p.m Tuesday determined that the driver, a 33-year-old Saanich mother, was showing signs of alcohol impairment. She also didn’t have a valid driver’s licence. She was detained for an investigation.

Her three children, all under 12 years old, were in the vehicle at the time but no one was injured, police said.

The children were picked up by a family member, and family services was alerted. Charges of impaired driving are pending, said Const. Nancy Saggar.

“Impaired driving remains one of the number-one causes of collision-related death in B.C. If you suspect an impaired driver on the road, call it in to police right away,” Saggar said.
