Delta police have issued a friendly on-line message to residents after rash of thefts from auto in Tsawwassen Thursday.

According to a post on their Facebook page, DPD say five instances were reported to police in the areas of Kerry Place, Kerry Drive, 1A Ave and 4th Ave. In the majority of cases a thief entered unlocked vehicles stealing sunglasses, electronics, sporting goods, and a garage door opener.

To protect against auto theft DPD recommend:

- Do not leave any possessions in your vehicle
- Take your garage door opener out of the vehicle.
- Close vehicle windows and lock doors.

“If your vehicle was entered and rummaged through, but nothing was stolen, please report this to police, as this could be tied to other thefts in the area,” say DPD “And finally, if you suspect your vehicle has been broken into, please if possible do not touch the vehicle or any contents, and contact police.”

Police are stepping up patrols in the area.
