BREAKING: Deltans believed to be victims in Highway 1 fatal collision

Two people from Delta are believed to be deceased following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 west of Golden.

According to a news release from Golden-Field RCMP, officers were called along with RCMP Traffic Services to the collision on Saturday.

“At this time police can confirm that two people are deceased: one male and one female,” said Const. Spencer Lainchbury. “The deceased are believed to be from Delta.”

He said four people were seriously injured and were transported by Air Ambulance to a hospital.

Highway 1 was closed for approximately four hours, but has since re-opened to traffic.

Police will continue to investigate the cause of the collision along with the BC Coroners Service.
