Music lovers, save the date: The Music at Queens concert series is back next weekend.
The series continues on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m., when the West Coast Symphony Orchestra returns to the stage. The orchestra, under the baton of New Westminster’s own Bujar Llapaj, will perform a program that includes Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and Wagner’s Prelude to Tristan and Isolde. The orchestra will also be joined by guest pianist Spencer Tsai, a 14-year-old prodigy who will be featured in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Admission is by donation, and there will be refreshments.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, the 22nd annual Carols and Bells concert returns at 7 p.m., offering up handbell choirs and Christmas carol singing.
Save the dates now for the 2020 concerts: Van Django on Saturday, Jan. 25; Don Stewart on Saturday, April 18; Springtime Bells and Cream Tea on Saturday, April 25; and the West Coast Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, May 9.
All concerts take place at Queens Avenue United Church, 529 Queens Ave.
Tickets for Music at Queen’s concerts (except West Coast Symphony performances) are $20 regular, $15 for seniors and students, or $10 for children from kindergarten to Grade 7. Buy tickets at www.queensavenue.org or at the church office (Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
