A New Westminster costume designer’s work will be in the spotlight when a new production of Steel Magnolias hits the stage.
Christina Sinosich – well known for her work companies including Royal City Musical Theatre and Theatre Under the Stars – is the designer for Boone Dog Productions’ next outing, onstage at The Nest on Granville Island from Feb. 14 to March 8.
The story, best known from the film adaptation starring Julia Roberts, follows the lives of a group of Southern women as one of them faces a life-altering medical diagnosis. It stars Jaime Piercy, Lalainia Lindbjerg, Gillian Barber, Ranae Miller, Sheryl Anne Wheaton and Chy.
Sinosich’s costumes are based in the “blush- and bashful-hued” fashions of the 1980s, a press release notes.
